Kiwi Cool: Sarah Riley

Sarah Riley is a shoe designer from New Zealand and has a new Spring/Summer ’07/08 collection which according to the designer celebrates facets of being female in post-modern society. Since launching her fashion brand in 2005 she has promoted women’s footwear that celebrates and acknowledges femininity. In her latest collection delicate heels are juxtaposed with strong geometric lines. Soft powdery-coloured leathers are contrasted with metal studs and heavy platforms. Sexy zippers add zing to the heel of structured sandals that find their balance on fine stilettos. The new shoe collection includes seductive leathers and textures including snakeskin and cowhide. Faded colours of pastels and natural tones prevail and toe cleavage underlines her concentration upon feminine shapes with peep toes featured. Sarah Riley shoes have already appeared on the catwalk within the collections of designers Trelise Cooper, Pearl and Kingan Jones.
