Save the planet: Think calves, men!

This summer legs are in and not just the leggy lovelies of the female kind but men’s legs too. The Premier of Ontario, Dalton McGuinty has encouraged all environmental conscious government employees to dress for summer heat and make economies on the cost of air conditioning in their offices. More bare arms and bare legs is the order of the day and it appears the metro-Kiwi look of open neck dress shirt and tailored shorts for men will prevail in the hot CBDs, this summer. Maybe Angus Young (ACDC) had something after all because more and more city types are rocking up with their new clean cut shorts. Retailers report shorts are doing brisk business in some places as the slender look catches on with the young upwardly mobile trendies. Designers from OneMethod are encouraged with the look suffice they have plans in motion to extend the style for fashions for spring/summer 2008. Just before you think you can come to work in your jocks, the word is cargos, denim cut-offs and board shorts in the office are a definite no no, not even on dress down Friday. The ideal length of this season’s dress shorts made from high-twist cotton or seersucker, should be no shorter than four inches above the knee and tapered to the thigh. Sorry no Eric Morecambe shorts. Guess we will need to wait and see if short fat hairy legs in the office becomes a fashion vogue but certainly what we are advised by the fashion police is not to wear socks with our sandals or Gucci sneakers. Considered a major fashion faux pas. Feet too are a definite fashion accessory for all eco friendly men this season with the prevailing maxim “when toes are on show they should be pedicure-perfect!“.
