Walk this way: Shoe Exhibition
Walk This Way is an exhibition currently at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. The free shoe exhibition is spread throughout the galleries, as a “treasure hunt” for visitors. Each exhibit is set within a historical or sociological context and paired with an object or work of art from the same period or, as a before and after comparison. For example, Daisuke Matsuzaka’s cleats (Boston Red Sox) are partnered with an ancient Greek vase showing runners. In antiquity athletes went barefoot but only now in the 21 century, can technology allowed the shod foot to behave as if unimpeded by footwear. Many other interesting exhibits are on display including Vivienne Westwood’s platforms placed beside the silk sartoria which inspired her to design. Admission to the MFA ($17(US) for adults, $15 (UD) for students and seniors) and is on display until March 23, 2008.
