Insomnia and counting your shoes
Time was when you could not drop off to sleep you might count sheep, well appears the sleepless are more likely to count shoes or bedroom conquests than sheep to help them nod off. The hotel chain Travelodge surveyed 2,250 people, and found 87% said that counting sheep no longer worked for them. Passages to snooze included counting the calories from cakes and chocolates, with men as likely to count their money. Women regularly work out just how many handbags they had and men relived goals scored by their favourite football team. Thinking of song lyrics was another popular choice. Females having trouble sleeping also counted items on their shopping list, or worked out what tasks they would do the following day. Males were more likely to scheme of how best to spend a lottery win as a way of nodding off. According to a psychologist the research findings indicate those surveyed were obsessed with security, possessions, weight, time management and feeling good.
