MTVs Staying Alive charity auction on eBay
The proceeds of an eBay auction of celebrity signed Nike running shoes and dunks will go to MTV’s charity MTV’s charity Staying Alive Foundation. MTVteamed up with NIKEiD to raise money for MTVs The Staying Alive Foundation. The charity supports young people around the world who lead innovative HIV and AIDS prevention projects, aimed at other young people. Award winners at the 2007 MTV European Music Awards in Munich were invited to design their own dunks at the NIKEiD suite. Two pairs were made and one went to auction and the other was kept by at artist. Kelly Rowland, Nicole Scherzinger, Shaggy and Craig David all participated. NIKE have also produced 100 limited edition pairs of Staying Alive branded Dunks. The celebrities were invited to sign them and leave a short message. Some of the signed running shoes include EMA host Snoop , Will.I.Am and Wyclef Jean. The Foundation presents the Staying Alive Awards biannually where small grants are given to support innovative projects in schools, youth centres and clubs, using radio, TV, print, on-line and personal interactions that reach at-risk youth and protect them from the multiple threats posed by HIV and AIDS.
