In the Palmyra municipality of the Lebanon Valley, Pennsylvania, the New Year celebrations will commence with a 6-foot replica of a shoe being lowered to the ground. Why? Palmyra once had a large shoe-manufacturing industry. The shoe is a replica of one made at W.L. Kreider Shoe Factory in the early 1900s.
The event is sponsored by ASK Foods and Seltzer's Bologna.
