Peter Marshall, NZ Police Commissioner has ordered urgent work to discover the cost of keeping the nation's footsore police officers in shoes. After spending time with frontline staff the commissioner realised feet were of major concern to serving officers. He is keen frontline personnel have appropriate footwear paid for by New Zealand Police. Consequently, he had asked that "urgent work" be carried out to discover the financial implication of providing footwear. Currently NZ police have to buy their own shoes. The footwear dress code is black, working-style shoes.
