The Aphrodite Project: Safety footwear for sex workers

 

Aphrodite Project 's sandals are designed to protect the wearer with a piercing siren to scare off threatening muggers or attackers and a GPS-powered system so they can send warnings to police. The shoes are a new line of footwear specifically designed for sex workers. Using the latest technology, sex workers are now on par with other public workers, whose lives are valued highly because they work in dangerous professions that serve the needs of the community. The idea was inspired by the prostitutes of antiquity, who enticed clients with their flutes and sandals that left ‘follow me’ footprints in the earth.
