Australian Foot Health Month 2011 - Diabetes: Counting the Costs
Australian Podiatrists are putting pressure on the federal government to win a better deal for people living with diabetes. Currently people coping with chronic disease and related foot complications can, through Medicare-funding, visit the podiatrist free of charge up to five times per calander year. The Australasian Podiatry Council want to extend this to a minimum of 12 visits, in keeping with intensive care need. The public health campaign now under way takes the form of community service announcements for radio and television, urging people with diabetes to maintain foot health vigilance. The 2011 Australian Foot Health Month campaign links with the theme Diabetes: Counting the Costs.
