Nike, adidas and Under Armour have gone overboard with neon, pastel and technicolored socks. Some players have customized their socks like Syracuse's Dion Waiters who sports bright-orange socks with the letters "SU"; Florida's Bradley Beal has cycled through white, black, blue and orange options this season; and former Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III, flashed Superman socks at this year's Heisman Trophy presentation. Whilst most prefer low socks some players wear high-socks including former Utah All-American Keith Van Horn. He inspired a generation of players to wear socks up to their knees. The Fab Five teams at Michigan in the 1990s famously wore black socks under their black sneakers. The late, great John Wooden always told his freshmen to smooth out the wrinkles around their heels and little toes. A well placed sock prevents blisters.
