Marathon de Paris: Champs Elysees - electric avenue

A 25-meter section of the Marathon de Paris on the Champs Elysees is lined with tiles made of recycled truck tires. The manufacturers, Pavegen Systems claim their tiles capture and harvest the energy runners create when they run on them. The intention is the accumulated energy will be used to power electronics along the course. Experts believe each participant’s footstep will amount to approximately eight watts.
