The first laceless football boots were Zhero Gravity introduced by Lotto in 2006. It has taken a decade for rival Adidas to match this with their new adidas ACE 16+ Purecontrol.
The new boot is encased with a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) cage which secures the mid foot area. This is supported by a sock like, knitted upper i.e. Primeknit, and an internal knitted techfit locking system. The outer surface of the boot has a thin layer of raised dots around the sweet spot for better ball control. With no edges, or additional laces in the way, any contact with the ball is just between foot and ball, according to the manufacturer.
The boot has a SPRINTFRAME outsole with an oversized heel cup for added stability. The eleven conical studs provide a stable platform for use on firm grounds and 3G / 4G.
