Walk a mile in my shoes :: Carers Gloucestershire Event

The 4th annual ‘Walk a mile in my shoes’ for carer awareness will take place in Pittville Park, Cheltenham on Sunday 5th June 2016. The event will see people from across the county swapping footwear with their family, friends and colleagues to walk a mile around the beautiful Pittville Park to show their support for local unpaid carers. Registration is £10 for adults and £5 for children which includes your ‘Walk a mile in my Shoes’ t-shirt and goody bag Carers Gloucestershire will be hosting a whole afternoon of free entertainment and activities for all carers and the local community once the walk is complete.

Asking walkers to register for "Walk a Mile in My Shoes" this year will help the charity reach their £10,000 fundraising target to raise funds for the "Time Out for Carers" service. This project helps unpaid family carers, many of whom are financially disadvantaged, to have a well-earned break. These are people who wouldn’t normally get a break from their responsibilities and it enables carers to get a desperately needed day out, creating a wealth of happy memories for the future.

Carers Gloucestershire is calling all celebrities who live in the county to support the charity's forthcoming annual flagship fund raising event 'Walk a Mile in my Shoes' by donating a pair of shoes. To donate shoes, please contact Carers Gloucestershire fundraising and events manager Eve Qureshi via email: equreshi@carersgloucestershire.org.uk and she will make arrangements for the shoes to be collected. Alternatively the charity can receive the shoes through the post. To find out more about the 'Walk a Mile in my Shoes' event, visit www.carersgloucestershire.org.uk/get-involved/walk-mile-shoes and put the 5th June in your diary.
