Shoe statue, Showhegan, Maine
If you ever go to Skowhegan, Maine on the Kennebec River there you will find an aluminum shoe sculpture in the in town’s municipal parking lot. In 2008, the Skowhegan Public Library received a $3,000 grant from the Maine Community Foundation to sponsor an art community program. Sculptor, Barry Norling got to work and painted his creation with a mural depicting the Skowhegan community. The sculpture is a tribute to the men and women who worked in the local shoe industry.
