Boston, Massachusetts: The world’s shoe capital, once again
Boston, Massachusetts has once again become the shoe capital of North America. Not sadly the manufacturing centre, that’s still done off shore, but more the administrative centre of the world. Many prominent footwear companies are now building up their brands from the Bay State. The latest is Clarks, the British shoe brand known for its Desert Boot and Wallabee moccasin. Within the last year New Balance and Converse also opened new headquarters in Boston. The original shoe factories that attracted artisan and craft techniques are survived by their corporate descendants with a vast talent pool of innovators, working in advanced technologies such as robotics.
