The Old Shoe Trophy
In 1948, Robert Dolbear was a coach and gym teacher at Dallas Township High School, and wanted a way to increase camaraderie and promote the rivalry between the boys who played football at the local schools. He struck on the idea of an old shoe. A suitable old boot was found ,bronzed and mounted. The plaque beneath reads, “The ‘Old Shoe’ Presented by Dallas Rotary Club to Back Mountain Champions.” The Old Shoe Game, and trophy continues to be an annual tradition for the Dallas and Lake-Lehman football teams. The rotary president awarded the trophy to Dallas this year after their in a 28-14 win over the Black Knights’.
