Dirty Dicks : The price is on the shoes

Dirty Dick's pub at 175 Finnieston Street, Glasgow - 1955. The pub was located in a tenement which was built in 1864. Its proximity to Glasgow Harbour made Dirty Dick's a favourite with dockers and sailors of all nationalities. The pub served tea and hot food in a addition to alcoholic refreshments, and accepted a variety of foreign currencies in payment. Dirty Dick's was also infamous as a drinking den for prostitutes. It is said that the women wrote the price on the soles of their shoes, putting their feet up on the tables when a potential customer approached. The pub was demolished in the 1960s.
